Sustainable Landscaping
A balance and compatibility of ecology and nature.
Several Seasons practices the ecological principles of sustainable landscaping. Owner, Susan Pearlstine, has been studying and practicing permaculture for many years and recently attained a professional certificate in sustainable landscaping. She applies the standards that incorporate LEED, Green Point Ratings, Bay Friendly Standards and Permaculture Theories. To begin a project and meet sustainability standards, Susan first makes a complete site assessment. After which, she reviews the soil and water resources to determine what materials will be required. Then plant selection and design specifiations are put into place, meeting all organic standards. Some of the areas of expertise of Several Seasons are biological controls and integrated pest management in organic gardening; reuse, recycled and salvaged materials; rain water catchment, slowing down storm water runoff and waste water management.
Her expertise in rain water catchment includes installation of the latest, most technologically advanced vessels to hold rain water for use in garden irrigation. These vessels can be installed in many diverse landscape situations.
